Rough cost of converting utility room into a shower room.?

It’s very small, approx 190 x 130 , the door would have to be a sliding door, it would be done cheap and basic, I already have tiles. Thanks

Is there hot/cold water already into the room, and a floor level waste outlet?

Those will make a big difference to the cost, as potentially will the type of floor (wood or concrete) and if you go for a "wetroom" or shower cubicle.

If you've already got a floor level waste outlet and running water into it, then probably 2-5k* depending on where you live and the level of finish you want, as labour costs probably won't rise as much as parts cost if you want a better finish (you can get a shower cubicle from ~£200 and a mixer shower from ~£100 but labour will be largely dependent on where you live and it won't cost much if any more for them to fit say a £1000 cubicle vs a £200 one).

*I'm assuming probably a day or two of tiling, and the same again for the rest of the work assuming nothing major like the floor needing additional works (or waste pipes put in fresh), at about £250 a day.

So you already have a cold supply and a waste. So you'll need a hot supply (unless an electric shower), and probably some sort of forced ventilation.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Electric wiring may need to be changed as switches and sockets can't be too close to a shower.

Well that's the understatement of the century.
