Debit cards and insurance

Good morning all, my first post and it's on behalf of my 82 year old mother. She bought a small fridge 13months ago on her debit card and yes it's packed up! I've had an independent engineer look at it (£60 call out fee) and he's said anything up to £120 parts and labour to fix! I've been in touch with the manufacturer and they want £70 call out fee. Where do I stand have I any come back with the debit card insurance?
