We all stress out about this but, in my personal opinion, if one passes the affordability checks, then it's pretty much a given - assuming no adverse history or oddities with the actual property. Credit cards and loans do figure in that of course, but if they are paid off prior to the application, or as part of it, I don't think there is too much to worry about.
Good luck!1 -
I could not see any status updates on their site maybe because I do not have a current account with them?
Update -
My broker sent a msg which the bank had sent to say the bank has all requested documents and it has been passed for full assessment which is the same as what the bank told me when I spoke to them.. MA is going to check with them once back tomorrow as to why they have not instructed the survey yet..

Hi,
I had an offer from Nationwide last month.
Full application was submitted on Tuesday 16th Oct. The valuation was arranged on Friday 19th Oct (3 working days) for the following week.
I was able to track the application online as I am an existing Nationwide Internet Banking customer. There was a delay between the online tracker being updated and receiving their texts and emails (which went to spam) so keep chasing them as the case may be updated a day before you receive any notification.
I believe they have different teams for document checking. My payslips were checked and approved almost immediately but my wife's proof of name and address took a few days and eventually she had to go into a local branch to have it verified.
My experience of them was very good throughout and I received an offer the day after the valuation was completed.0 -
I do not have a current account with NW.. have a CC with them that I have not used for a very long time! I just logged in to that account and I could see no applications in progress..

Update - since there is no news yet about valuation I gave Nationwide a call again now.. the guy on the line said Valuation should be booked in today and you will get a text but in terms of the application its just pending the valuation now.. and when I further checked with him if that means when valuation is done and passed the application would proceed to offer of mortgage and he replied affirmative. So a bit of relief but keeping fingers crossed!
Also my wife just brought this up - the kitchen in the property has original stripped wooden flooring (it does look a bit dated and something we plan to redo once we get the property anyway) when the valuation takes place do they look for wood rot in the floors as well or is that just in the loft/building timber?

Update and questions for the experts -
Estate agents confirmed on Monday morning that a valuation has been booked in for Friday (tomorrow). We never received the text or email from bank so I asked my MA to confirm with the bank and they said it was some glitch and it is indeed booked in ok. They had also asked her on friday last week for some more docs on the proof of deposit which was then sent. But they have not come back to my MA if they are ok with it. I asked MA this morning if its normal and was told yes if they have not come back about the doc it should be fine and are probably waiting for valuation to be completed.. is this the case or do Bank confirm that when a new doc is submitted that they are ok with it?
