Have I the right to claim

25 years ago (approx) we were sold a mortgage by a mortgage broker with UCB home loans.
At the time I was only working 6 hours a week for Asda.
I'm unsure whether we were sold PPI at the time ans am thinking of trying to find out. However.....
Within 2 years we were re-possesed. We were £10 above the family credit line at the time and received no help when mortgage rates were at there highest.
A couple of years later we settled with a full and final payment to UCB.
What I'm wondering is if we found we had been sold PPI with the mortgage where do we stand with claiming it back?
Thankfully a few years later we managed to get back on the ladder and just put the whole experience down to being young without a clue what we were doing when it came to mortgages etc

You can't claim it back, you could though, make a complaint.
You'd complain to the broker who sold you the policy.
The broker is very unlikely to have been regulated at the time, so could simply ignore your complaint.
This is supposing you had MPPI and anyone has any documentation showing you did in fact pay it. Another problem you face, if you did have a policy, is that brokers were allowed to sell you a policy in return for free advice.
Did you repay all the debt or did the "full and final" result in money written off?
If money was written off, the debt may still exist and and any payment could be used against that debt.
What are your reason(s) for complaint, why do you think it was mis-sold?0 -

you have a right to complain. However, there are some issues.25 years ago (approx) we were sold a mortgage by a mortgage broker with UCB home loans.
Mortgage brokers only become regulated in January 2005. So, 20 years ago would make any non-investment backed insurance sale pre-regulation. So, the broker would not be required to consider your complaint and can reject it as being pre-regulation. You have no access to the FOS.What I'm wondering is if we found we had been sold PPI with the mortgage where do we stand with claiming it back?
You can make a complaint to the broker. The broker will reject it as pre-regulation and that will be the end of it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
