Could I suggest that you never leave keys near an outside door. Not only are they easy to reach should someone break in but they can be detected by gadgets that a thief carries to unlock your car doors. Best place for keys is in a Faraday or similar pouch which costs £4 - £5 on Amazon. For extra safety keep the pouch in the house as far away from the car as possible, I keep mine in my bag and take it upstairs when I go to bed.
