  • Hi guys! Just confirming that Halifax paid me £50 today.
The switch process started on 27 Nov and is supposed to be completed on 06 Dec.
  • To ceredigion from 10 Nov.

    Don't believe the marketing hype.

Sorry for late reply, but it's NOT just hype.
Before I opened loads of current accounts this month (Tesco, 2x Metro, NatWest and Halifax), I was eligible for much more credit cards than I am now. When I do eligibility check now, I can't even get Tandem credit card. It says 0% chance of getting it. American Express, however, went only down from 95% to 70%, so I'm still likely to get it. :rotfl: Anyway, after a couple months I'll be back where I was before.

For those of you who have successfully applied, did you have to provide id? I was taken by surprise by this, I would have thought the fact that I am registered with all credit agencies, on the Electoral Roll, and already a Halifax credit card customer would have been sufficient. When I applied for the credit card last year they didn't ask for additional proof of id. Unfortunately I had to give up on the process as only UK passports could be sent digitally, all others needed to be checked in branch, and I live about £250 worth of travel cost away from a Halifax branch...

    No. No ID required.
  • Halifax sent me a paper monthly statement yesterday... I don't know why, since I have chosen paperless option. You only get the £85 bonus on the condition that you go paperless (plus a few other things). I double checked it and I still have paperless option ticked in my online banking. Yet they've sent me paper statement. Now I wonder if they'll pay me the bonus.

I have just gone through the online process of signing up to switch from Nationwide to Halifax. I am really peed off though as you cannot apply for the joint account online. It opens an account in your own name then tells you you need to make an appointment at your nearest branch to add a person to the account. I will be phoning them tomorrow to cancel the switch as there is no way I am travelling miles to my nearest branch to add a joint account holder. Laugh of it is we have a joint mortgage and credit card with Halifax.

The second question on the application informs you what the process is for joint accounts. So you'd no need to proceed beyond that if it didn't suit...
Is this account just for you?

No, I want a Joint Account

Great news, we can get you started online today. All you need to do to make this a joint account is

    • Continue this application to set up an account in your name
    • Visit a local branch accompanied by the person you wish to add to the account to complete the joint application.

Just wondering if anyone who switched in Nov has received the second half of this incentive yet?

I'm still waiting (see other recent thread Halifax) applied and switched Nov 18. I'm begining to wonder if it's the use of the debit card which I used only once for a purchase, or the actual date I first used it which was within around 3-4 days of receiving it, who knows??
