Where can i get good black opaque maternity tights WITH a crotch (not mothercare)

All,

Please help (well probably the girls!).

I wear dresses to work and am 5 months pregnant. So far I have been reduced to wearing awful mothercare maternity tights which just have a string up the middle, twist when you put them on and for £5 are just bad quality.

Can anyone recommend some really good quality black opaque tights which have a crotch and fit the same as M&S normal tights?

I really dont care how much they cost. You cant put a price on comfort...!

Its driving me insane every morning when I get ready!!!

Thanks.

Have you tried Evans? They sell "plus" sized tights and many of them have the crotch panels. At five months you really only need the increased girth plus a bit of extra length at the front, not the specifically stretchy front panel, and you'll get both at Evans. They start from a size 16.

  • Vertbaudet do them (they have a nice maternity range in general) - not tried the tights so cant tell you about quality but their stuff is usally good. If you have not bought from them before there is a £10 off you first order - click though on their website. Once you are a customer there is a never ending stream of offers - but the babies range is lovely.

  • H&M do a good maternity range too and might well have tights - only the bigger stores though
  • Hi www.tightsplease.co.uk is a good web site for maternity they have several different goood quality brands and free delivery. Look for maternity under tights by type section , hope this helps you.

It was a long time ago, but I got my maternity tights from John Lewis. Even if you don't have a branch near you, you can order and pay over the phone and they'll post them out to you :)

I am 4 months and have just bought some non-mat but xl tights from Primark. 3 pairs for 2 quid!
  • M&S have started doing Maternity Tights again. I had to buy mine online as none of the stores I checked had them in stock. They are really comfortable as well - just buy your normal size in them and they should grow to accomodate your bump - I'm 18 weeks and normal tights are starting to get a bit uncomfortable by the end of the day.

They are £5 for a pair, and come in Black or Natural Tan (I think). The black ones are thicker than their normal tights, but not as thick as opaque ones IYKWIM.

  • Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. But the thing is, my problem is not finding black maternity tights, its finding ones with a crotch! I hate having to wear them two inches down my thighs so that the thin stringy bit doesnt cut into me (if you know what I mean!). The panels are all fine and fitting perfectly.

I will check out all your suggestions and see if I can get the sales people to tell me about the crotch.

I am sure I sound odd, but there is enough to be uncomfortable about at the moment without starting every day in almost tears of frustration because my tights arent right!! (Yes, I am having a weepy pregnancy and badly fitting tights really have reduced me to tears!!!)

I appreciate all your replies so much.
