PG Tips tea weak tea for the same price! Shrinkflation.

I'm not a loyal PG tips customer and just buy whatever decent tea is available at the time.
Recently, we had PG tips in a big box which must have been on offer and I kept noticing how watery and weak my tea was.
A few weeks ago, after yet another pale, weak mug of tea (I like it spoon-standing up strong), I decided to Google PG tips to see if they had changed their tea and found yet again, another case of shrinkflation.
It appears they have deliberately reduced the amount of tea in their pyramid bags without being upfront about it, so you're now getting less tea for your money.
I always thought that a big, established brand would always maintain it's consistency but I was wrong.
They may be using the same tea, but by putting less in a bag means that the customer experience is just weak tea.
So I now refuse to purchase that brand and currently have a big box of Yorkshire tea which makes a strong brew, so I'm happy.
So if anybody is going to the supermarket to buy tea, I would avoid PG Tips as you'll get a watery drink or will need to use 2 tea bags.

Do you have a link to what you found on Google as I can't find it ? I know they changed the composition of the bags themselves earlier this year so that they are 'plastic free' & biodegradable which may account for any changes in weight but I wasn't aware that they'd actually reduced the quantity of tea...0 -
I'm glad I'm not a manufacturer, you are moaned about if you increase your prices and moaned about for keeping the prices down but supply less.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I've always found PG tips to be a fairly anaemic tea anyway0

If appears that this change did happen although it was over three and a half years ago.

Maybe it's to do with paying for him from Benidorm to be on their TV ads? :-)0

When I used instant coffee I noticed the taste of the first mug made from the contents of a new jar was much stronger and more enjoyable than that of the last. The taste obliviously dulled over a period of time after the jar had been opened. That's why I found buying big jars was a false economy because I'd toss it before it was empty.
I wouldn't be surprised if the same wasn't true of tea.
On the other hand, it may be a bad batch. If I were the OP I would send a complaint to PG Tips with a sample; they will probably reply with a voucher. I'd also give the large boxes a miss.0 -
I love tea and drink it by the gallon, but I've rarely had a decent cup of PG Tips.0
