Cat scratching?

By be a forlorn hope, but anybody any ideas why a cat would suddenly start scratching their neck (one side only).
And before anyone keys 'fleas' no she hasn't got any.
Basic info - a female cat of about five kilos, thirteen & half years old, who eats well, apart from being a bit senile and bit deaf - a healthy cat. Just puzzled why she feels, the overriding need to have a good scratch!

I wish I had an answer for you,
my 14 year old hyperthyroid cat keeps scratching behind one of his
ears but theres nothing there.
Hes almost bald on this spot but theres nothing there, its not fleas and I dont want to take him to the vets because hes been in and out of there so much and I dont want to distress him any more.
I did wonder if its all the blooming firweorks causing stress.
I hope you find the answer .0 -
My cat started scratching and losing fur. Turned out a well meaning neighbour was giving her milk to which she is allergic.0

Ear mites? If any chance see the vet ASAP. According to the lovely cat rescuers at Purrs forum the scratching can easily cause a bleed or infection, even permanent damage to the ears.
What do you de-flea your cat with? Asking because Stronghold spot on covers fleas, ear mites and many worms. Check what you are using, I believe most don't treat ear mites.
Lulu (ex stray) had ear mites when I got her. Went from scratching too much to ripping ears off in a couple of days. Vet prescribed Stronghold. From ripping her ears off to nothing in a day and a half.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Yes, taken to the Vet for blood pressure test, and able to take bloods as well.
Just because I just posted, doesn't mean she's still been scratching all this time! Far from it. Just thought people would be interested.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0
