Home buyers report - how long?

I'm not sure how long to give the surveyor to write my home buyer's report? It's a one bed ground floor flat in a converted building. I don't believe there is anything special about the construction that would make it especially difficult to do because I already received the mortgage valuation which doesn't mention anything like that.
He did the inspection a week ago, I confirmed the next day that it went ahead, but have heard nothing since. I've already paid.
I don't want to be an annoyance, but at the same time, if there is an issue, I don't want him sitting on it.

Its best to ask before you instruct, but a week is a reasonable amount of time, as they dictate them as they go along mostly. They will probably want paying before you get it.0
