Planning retirement

Was age 55 when made redundant 18 months ago but not yet decided what to do long term.
Have just finished my 182 days claim for JSA.
Now claiming just for National Insurance Credits since I have savings > £16K.
.
Question: Can I still sign on for National Insurance credits if I draw down income from two personal pensions so long as I still look for work?

You might be better off posting on the benefits board. Even though you are planning retirement, this is really a question about receiving benefits.0

Yes you can https://www.gov.uk/national-insurance-credits/eligibilityInformation I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
I was studying that over the weekend.
It seems to suggest that I just have to meet the rules for JSA which I am and was.
I haven't mentioned this yet at my local jobcentre because I'm not sure how they would respond. But if I understand that correctly then yes. Thanks.
I'll wait to see if there are going to be any more posts first.
It may be that simple or just not much detail...
I've just found out that one thing you have to do on JSA is to tell them if you "get a personal pension or a pension from a previous employer.". So I'll just have to ask them about that.0 -

You have to tell them because any pension income over £50/week would reduce the payment you receive if you were still being paid. It will not affect your ability to get NI credits.
Do as xylophone suggests and get a State Pension forecast. If you already have the full pension entitlement there is no need to worry about getting more credits (assuming they don’t change the rules).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Hi Xylophone, I already got a state pension forecast and it tells me I need 5 years of contributions to get a full state pension. I get one every year.
Hi Calcotti. I have already finished with JSA so all I just get National insurance credits. When you say "It will not affect your ability to get NI credits". I think what you are saying is that the credits are not affected by getting a pension income. Have i got you right?0 -

Yes, that’s what I meant. Sorry it wasn’t clear.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Hi Calcotti - Thank you so much for posting again. I think I had my first sign-on for this with my old work coach a week ago when I handed in my form. Not surprisingly neither the GOV website or the form has many details about this. I see my new work coach next Tuesdays o I'll probably get the sales pitch then.
I will need to discuss this with her so I can say I've done that. I am still very self-conscious about what I say and how I say it because I don't want to mislead or withhold. So I am most grateful to you and Xylophone for your advice. But knowing what you have told me is extremely useful so thank you again.0 -
Good luck with. Unfortunately information on 'credits only' processes is obscure to non-existent!Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
