Oh dear! Sorry to see so many of Team Little Things having a tough time
Whether it’s money, work, power companies or heart-breaking funerals - BIG hugs to all! :grouphug:
Dawn - thank you for the scone recipe. Though on this occasion DH used up the last of the slightly sour milk (though he’s an ex-smoker, he readily admits it has permanently affected his tastebuds!), I will definitely be trying this soon. We seem to have somewhat of a milk excess at the moment. Not sure how as we usually get through so much of the white stuff with 4 kids in the house. If it carries on, I’ll have to amend our order with the milkman.
CLF - I feel your pain with the banjo! DH had a change of heart about listing his old one. Claimed it was too sentimental :wall: So instead I’m going to try and get him to part with at least one acoustic guitar from his collection. At last count he had seven! :eek:
As for things that we’ve done today...
1. Deposited £17 change into joint account.
2. Picked up click & collect parcel (saves £2.95 delivery charge - don’t know why anyone could pay this!).
3. Went prepared with snacks and drink for DD3 to avoid having to buy anything when out.
4. Picked up few items from supermarket to last the weekend. Grocery spend under budget for the week :T
5. Change from shopping into sealed pot - £2.74 :j
6. Checked survey sites. At least £2 earned so far. Have got a quiet evening alone whilst DH is working so will probably force myself to do a few more (sometimes I just can’t stand how dull they are!).
7. Got sent some free products to test - need to start filling out diary that they want me to keep. Will be getting £15 once it’s finished and sent :T
Hoping to get an early night with DS, who is currently feeling a bit grizzly after his immunisations today. Can’t complain though - he barely cried when having them done. I think I get more distressed by it than he does!
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone!Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.

Evening all, can't believe it's Thursday evening and I don't think I've managed to post yet this week. It's been non stop! The good news is I've spent very little :j:j a summary of good MSE things for the week:
Made a stew in the sc, that did us over 2 nights using lovely meat from the butcher. Used a free can of ginger beer as the liquid as it's far too sweet to drink and I got it free through a shopping app. Only 4 more to find things to do with :rotfl:
We won a prize in a raffle :T 7 amazing books, 3 limited editions and one signed by the author.
Leftovers from 2 nights made tonight tea very easy :T
Was able to submit meter readings for new utility company meaning we're a step closer to leaving rubbish one
Some more cash back tracked
Got paid for an item in full from a shopping app that I was only expecting 50% back from
Continue to use shampoo bar and am now also using bar of soap instead of shower gel.
Spent some wonderful time with my smalls this evening leaving work half an hour early and making some memories :A
Bought some weights so we can workout at home when time is short
Really stuck to shopping list and meal plan this week and although fridge looks bare, we have not gone hungry and all eaten very well.
Limited screen time and stayed away from social media more than normal
Was able to pay for vet visit with 'medical' pot
Hope today went well determined. Hugs to all those facing difficulties. Purps.0 -
Love our heated airer, CCL. Didn't want a tumble drier as they are.exensive to.run & my limited experience of them.is that they have made.my clothes.smell a bit weird. I line dry outside as much as possible, but for the winter months, I would.not.be without my heated airer. I haven't paid.extra for.a cover..I just chuck a sheet, duvet cover or a similar from the wssh over the top &.they dry at the.same.time.
Before I bought it, winter laundry was dried in the spare bedroom on a standard airer placed near the radiator. Clothes sometimes smelled a bit frowsty & we also started getting a few black mould spots.
If you decide to get one, look for any Lakeland vouchers that may be around..Their mailshots/leaflets often contain a £5 voucher, which isn't much, but it's better than nothing.

Morning guys
thanks for the well wishes. It was a nice service, but am left with real sadness about the situation.
Today I'm off to have 2 fillings under sedation - what a week! Given that it's not going to be a very productive day. I will try to:
* make spag bol in pc this morning so it's all done this evening
* check banks
* straighten up accounts
* madam going to a friends after school for a playdate
* nsd
* finish off sock. Had to undo several rounds as I messed up the toe shaping
* check onepoll
* read book
* load of washing & hang up
Ok that'll do. Hope you all have a lovely dayDF as at 30/12/16

CLF have you tried baby sterilising fluid on your hubby shirt? I buy a basics or aldi version of milton to bleach the kids socks works a treat
Foxglove - I have a tumble (big family) we don't use it much but it is great as it has a sense dry function so it doesn't run for hours like my mum's one towels take about an hour and a half, and my electric bills are net bad we pay £82 for gad and electric (family of 5 )and we run a business from home and I work from home twice a week - I might look into a heated airer for my daughter for uni
Today

I will walk/cycle to work
I will take my own lunch
Barclaycard has sorted my payment and I have a payment for one buffet going in on Monday and a new booking for next week
I need to do a load of dishes
some laundry if i get time

Morning all. Blimey determined what a week for you. I hope it goes ok today re teeth.
I've been up since early and as it's payday, used the time wisely to do most of my money shuffle. Can't do the rest until DH is paid. All good for now though
Other things for today:
Meals from store, must get something out of freezer
Promised smalls dvd and popcorn tonight, I have some kernels to pop
Make some biscuits/cake we have friends over tomorrow so will need some offerings and rest can be used in lunchboxes
Froze some some sausage rolls from last weekend
Wfh :j
Use weights as I won't have time for the gym as DH will be back late
Start small shopping list for L1dl tomorrow am
Meal plan
Triage fridge, won't take long as it's fairly bare but I'd like to double check
Back to check in later. Purps.0 -
Morning all
Hope you are ok DNMSTake care.
Need to wait in for a parcel which may or may not arrive this morning :mad: so daren't move far from the front door. Will do the following:
Make a soup Done, spicy pumpkin and sweet potato, enough for lunch, and tomorrow too. Used half of my bargainous 10p pumpkin, and froze the other half, prepped and chopped. Used a bag that some of OH's bagels came in, instead of a new freezer bag (I didn't have one big enough in the tin I keep washed used ones in)
Also made a batch of scones
Check banks Done, no surprises, also updated spreadsheet
Clean some items for my sales unit Done
Some ironing Done, dresses hung up in wardrobe
Bored yet? Cos I am!!
Also received car insurance renewal in the post, so compared the quote online. It is still cheaper than any of the others, even though it has gone up, so will renew a bit nearer the time. Quite relieved really, as I had a non fault accident a few years ago, and their customer service couldn't be faulted.
Did a little paperwork for my business
Sold 3 items on ebay and listed 2 more
Had to order a new bowl for my Magimix processor as the lid had splitOH has glued it for now, but I don't think that will put up with being washed in hot water too many times. I have had my Magimix for more than 10 years, and I have only had to replace one small part before, and that was because OH lost it, so I can't complain. At least it is easy to get replacement parts - love my Magimix
We have chilli for dinner tonight, and I really hope it is ok. I used a chilli that DD was given at work and it is really hot :eek: It didn't seem that hot when I was cutting it up, but boy are we going to need plenty of yogurt and coriander with the finished dish. I am used to the ones that I grow, little, really hot ones and big, milder ones. I know how they behave. This one was called a chocolate chilli, brown in colour and quite attractive, also a reasonable size so I thought ok for a big pot of mince and veg. We will see, just hope it is edible! I found it ok, but OH didn't like it much, though he ate it. I will freeze the rest in single portions and eat it up myself over time. It is bit hotter than I prefer, but I am not wasting it. It is healthy with lots of veg, and a spoonful or two of yogurt makes it fine to eat
Right, I think I will tackle the least attractive job first... is that disembowelling a large pumpkin or doing the ironing??
Waited in all morning for the parcel and it didn't turn up. OH waited in for part of the afternoon while I took some items to my sales unit. It finally turned up just after 5pm :cool:
We have lit the stove as it is cold, raining and windy. A few logs saves on using the gas heating, and the dog loves it - he is currently inside the fender on the hearth toasting his tummy :rotfl:

Morning all,
Lots of us seem to be struggling at the minute:grouphug:
I really can't wait for today to be over and have the weekend with just family. As this week I feel like we've all been pulled in different directions and are all stressed.
To do
* run the washing machine on the quick 30 degree wash as always
* hang items on radiators for when they're switched on later
* dh is wfh today so saved diesel costs but he'll have the heating on!
* pop to aldee & icyland with little list
* book next weeks gym sessions - only been once this week and I'm sure thats not helped my mood
* check banking/update spreadsheet
* meeting a friend for lunch (she messaged the other day after seeing me and was concerned about me)
* run the dishwasher on the quick wash
* look at :money: energy club as I've had the reminder about my fixed deal coming to an end.
Thats it for now.
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
