Digibox - Picture pixelating.....

Evening all,

I am on my 2nd Duraband ( Asda) set top box, took the last one back as the picture on most channels keeps pixelating ( not sure if that is the correct term)

Took it back got another and the exact same thing happened again. It is driving me mad!!!

Does anyone out there know what the problem could be? We have set top box built in to big tv down stairs and it seems fine ( connected to same aeriel.

Many Thanks.

    Pixelating is the correct term.

You say it's the same aerial, I take it you mean you have the aerial split into two? Or did you mean you tested the box downstairs one the aerial?

If the aerial is split into two and it's not boosted and you aren't in the strongest of signal areas then there will be problems.

You'll need to try the box downstairs and with the built-in Freeview not connected, if that's OK then try the box upstairs with out the TV downstairs aerial connected up.

The digital channels are broadcast at a much lower power than the analogue, the power won't be increased until analogue is switched off.

(Boosters can create more problems than they solve).
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Good advice, it is certainly an aerial / signal problem, not the receiver.

    Thanks for your prompt replies.

When I had my tv connected to the aerial direct the picture was rotten - made such a difference when the set top bx went on.

Down stairs is connected to same aerial split in two - don't use the digital tv ( via tuner ) alot as we have SKy + - but on occasions when i Have been taping two and want to watch a third I have turned it on and the picture excellent.

I will try unplugging aerial from downstairs and see if that makes a difference. As far as I know we are in quite a good area for the main transmitter ( Blackhill) and we stay on a hill so traditionally picture was always quite good. ( althopugh I am going back to the days before sky and cable tv.

    Thanks again
