Trying to sort out a friend's pc. A program called WinErrorFixer 2007 keeps cropping upsaying i have a few hundred viruses. I know this program is a scam. Have scanned the pc with AVG, Spybot and adaware to remove any nasties.
How do i get rid of WinErrorFixer 2007?
For some reason he has been running xp professional sp1 on the internet.
Try restoring but no luck.
Thanks in advance for your help

Have you tried running SuperAntiSpyware in Safe Mode?0

As Donnie suggests, boot into safemode and try SuperAntiSpyware(http://www.superantispyware.com). I would personally turn off System Restore first (don't forget to turn it back on once you have fixed the problem). It is good practise before trying to remove a trojan/malware.
IF SuperAntiSpyware doesn't work, try running Smitfraud in safemode, http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php instructions on the page.
You mention it is running SP1. Have you now downloaded the updates? Mainly SP2?
Post back if you need further assistance.

Thanks for the replies. Will try the fix tonight.
Don't know why he has not downloaded the updates. Basically his children uses this 'old' pc to look at the web and do their homework.
I want to try to fix the winerrorfixer problem first before updating the xp software. If it cannot be erased then i will reformat the drive and reinstall the xp operating system and it's updates.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems

Thanks.
He decided to install a new bigger harddrive. I will install XP home and SP2 and make sure it is updated before i hand it to him.
Unfortunately i do not have the time at present to sort out the winerrorfixer. I will be busy installing new software on the new harddrive
but will look at the problem next week at my own leisure. Will keep you updated Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
