Leaving job entitlements

Hi everyone, hoping someone can help me. I moved to the UK from Ireland 3 years ago. I moved over for work and just changed job in August.
I've just found out that my mum is poorly in Ireland and needs to undergo treatment. She doesn't currently have anyone to support her over there. I desperately want to be with her and help where I can. The problem is, I also have a 12 yeah old daughter and my partenr who just moved over last year as well. She's in school so it's not easy to pick up and go back to Ireland, plus my partner then couldn't afford the rent by himself. Also he moved her for me and I would feel like I'm abandoning him here alone, he's just started a new job as well and can't take time off.
I was thinking about leaving my job and trying to claim some benefits to support the household and my daughter while I travel over and back when my mum needs me. I just don't know if this is considered an acceptable reason to leave my job? Also, I wouldn't technically be fully available and looking for work so not sure I would qualify for jobseekers... Is there anything that could help me?
I hate being so far away when she's going through this. Any info appreciated x

Walking out of job will see you sanctioned for up to 6 months from the date you claim benefits.
You need to be a job seeker or disabled to claim out of work benefits. There is no suitable benefit for someone caring for someone overseas.0 -

I think first sanction would be 91 days rather than 6 months for UC, 13 weeks for New style JSA (assuming OP is in UC area).
Depending on partner’s income there might be no or little entitlement anyway.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
If you have to return to Ireland and your partner can't afford the rent on his wage there would seem to be few practical options other than for him and your daughter to return to Ireland with you. I don't know if there might be any entitlement to Housing Benefit with the reduced family income, but I can't think of any other potential entitlement.0

I was also going to suggest that but thinking about it - if the mother is sick the last thing she'll want is to uproot and start treatment elsewhere
Plus wouldn't the mother have to go through the Habitual Residence Test
and also what about medical treatment ?“You’re only here for a short visit.
