Ambiguous penalty charge for parking on pavement

Hi, I hope someone can clarify whether I am at fault here and liable to pay a Penalty Charge Notice.
Last Sunday, we parked the family car outside the Jury's Inn in Croydon for 5mins to load bags in the car. The ticket cites contravention (62) ' Parking with one or more wheels on or over a footpath or any part of a road other than a carriageway.'
The car is parked on the hotel lay-by / approach road and not on a pavement (which can be seen in the photo). I would be extremely grateful if anyone has any advice as to whether this is worth contesting the ticket (and risking the full fine of £130 rather than discount fine of £65)?

Always worth an appeal within 14 days because Councils re-offer the discount.
