  • If the router is close to the pc, and you have an ethernet network card, you could plug it in, otherwise you do need a wireless dongle, try https://www.ebuyer.com
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • i dont have bt broadband does this make a difference i have aol until bt decide to upgrade the line to adsl2 and then ill be going to sky broadband max
  • Your isp is unrelated to whether the router will work, unless you have bought a BT locked router. Have you plugged it in and tried it wired?

Why not get sky BB now, with a free Netgear router, or ask AOL for one

Use the hard-wired side of the router, only use wireless if you have a laptop and you want to move around, for your desktop PC, better off hard-wired.

Sky will give you a free wireless router, though again use the hard-wired side for desktop.

You could use your existing router, but Sky don't give out details required to enter on them, you have to download something and pull the details from the Sky supplied router and then Sky won't offer support unless you are using their modified router.

You need to enter your username and password in the router config page., as it's your router that will be connecting to the ISP from then on, your computers don't then need to log onto your ISP, they will jjust get the connection straight away from the router. I'd set-up security too, so no one else can use your internet.
