opened a geb with bristol and west in 04.wrongly advised. massive withdrawel charge when I needed to access the account. company then changed to Britannia. I did write to complain, but that was over a year ago, too late to now contact ombidsman.do I need to write again?
The maturity date should be the 11th of this month, but when I phoned was told that this date will be 5wks later due to the closing of the indices.
Any advice gratefully received.thank you

Who advised you and why do you think it was wrong?
If it was a tried agent of B&W and the withdrawal penalties were explicit at the time you signed up I doubt you'd have a case irrespective of time limits TBH unless it's documented somewhere that one of your requirements was access during the lifetime of the bond.
I'm no expert and I'm sorry if that isn't too encouraging but you need to show they put you in the wrong product for your stated needs, not just that your circs changed and it became unsuitable.0 -
You cannot write again. You have one opportunity to complain. If you let the complaint expire past the 6 months after the company gives their response, you lose your right to take the complaint to the FOS or make another complaint later.I did write to complain, but that was over a year ago, too late to now contact ombidsman.do I need to write again?

These plans are not fixed for an exact number of years. They have a defined maturity date which is known before you applying.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have heard nothing but bad news about GEBs and for that reason stay well clear of them. I would rather just favor a fixed rate bond (with zero risk).
