Hi
Just moved to a new flat and this is my hot water tank.
I can't find anywhere to turn the water temperature down though, as its currently boiling hot.
Anyone have any ideas please?

Is it heated by a separate gas/oil boiler, or by electric?0

Theres a box on the wall next to it thats a timer, but there's nowhere on it to turn temperature downThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
There is a thermostat built in to the heating element, but it isn't really intended for adjustment by the homeowner because of bare live connections beneath.
If you are/can find someone capable with electrics, the thermostat can usually be accessed by removing the cover cap of the element.
The element is at the bottom on the side of the tank, and is not shown in your photos (too high). There may also be a secondary element half way up, which is used for the Boost function in Economy 7 installations.0 -
Cornucopia, thank you.
Seems a bit odd to have it set to such a high an dangerous temperature though and make it so difficult to adjust.
Many thanks for your help. The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
Happy to help.
It's possible that the thermostat may have gone out of adjustment over time, or could be about to fail.0 -
Dont mess with this unless its isolated and tested/confirmed dead.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
