Having never had an airfryer I am unsure whether I should be looking for one with a paddle or not?
Main intended use is for cooking chips, my initial thoughts are without any form of stiring some parts of the chips will not get cookedbut looking for advice from anyone who has tried using an airfryer for cooking chips.

I use an air fryer once a week for chips and I lobe them. My fryer doesn't have a paddle as I used to have one with a paddle and I binned it as it just broke all the food up.
The ones without paddles just need a shake during cooking.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Why do you think that out of curiosity? I love mine.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Mine was a Tefal Actifry I think.
Took ages to do chips & they were never really very nice.
It was also a real pain to clean.0 -

That's what mine is too. OK, they are not chips as we know them but, given that the idea is that they use less fat, they are an acceptable substitute in my opinion.0 -
And makes perfect evenly cooked sausages without having to stand over the frying pan turning them0

But isn't there something wrong with perfectly evenly cooked sausages? Aren't they supposed to have half-raw stripes down the sides, like doughnuts?A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Airfryer is a small fan oven.
Try your chips in your oven first. (sausage come out fine oven cooked)
You could spend the money towards a decent combo microwave that can air fry.
Still can't get close to deep frying.0 -

Had the Tefal one two times and numerous spare parts as the plastic degrades over time on some of the parts. Now using Philips air fryer cooks chips quicker and better I think and had mine two years not had to buy any new parts so better built in my opinion and takes up less work space. We use it at least 4-5 times a week0
