Phone rings - B/band connection cuts off???

I have never had problems with my Orange broadband but suddenly have noticed that when the BT landline phone rings, I lose my broadband connection.
Damned annoying today when I was in the middle of booking a flight, the phone rang and i thought i would just ignore it so as not to lose the connection but it still cut me off.
I have checked all the connections and they seem to be OK.
Could any helpful techie shed any light on why this could have just started to happen?
The USB and ADSL lights are both on on the modem. Means little to me, but it might help you?
Help please!
