APCOA parking charge notice porth teigr way

I am the owner of a car that was parked outside bbc roath lock studio. a ticket was stuck on the windscreen. It is a parking charge notice from APCOA offering a discounted price £40 if paid within 14 days.

I've looked for info and read through the FAQ but don't know exactly the protocol. They seem to be on the list of approved companies. Is there a way to get out of this unfair fine?

It's all there in the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1, including a ready to use, one size fits all initial appeal template.

  • Right I went through it but my mind is boggled

    this line has thrown me

Windscreen ticket from a BPA member? = STOP - wait and research before appealing!!

If it was a windscreen 'PCN' (not postal, and not an Indigo Railway 'penalty' - see Q&A above) wait 3 weeks and in that time, you MUST check the firm is an AOS member with the BPA or IPC (GOOGLE & CHECK THEIR LISTS).

it's not postal, and not indigo railway so where do I stand?

If it's a windscreen ticket, you wait until day 26, then send the one size fits all template appeal which is just a couple of scrolls down from where you picked that up about Indigo. APCOA is a BPA operator.

    Keep going down!

APCOA are among the easiest ones to appeal and we always win.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

  • I have waited the 25 days, I've just attempted to challenge but the pcn number and number plate combination resulted in an error. I've just opened a chat with them where they have informed me the pcn number I have is related to another vehicle, that is to say not my vehicle. I've tried to get confirmation there is nothing more for me to do but they aren't responding. I can't challenge it now...what should i do?

Complain to the BPA and ask them to get this sorted out. APCOA administration is woeful.

Did the windscreen ticket have your registration number on it?

It could be one of those cases where someone has come back to their vehicle, found a ticket on it and put it on the nearest nearby car. Thus why I have asked the above question.

If that is the case I can't see much point in bothering the BPA.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week, hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. It has even been suggested that some of these companies have links with organised crime.

Watch the video of the Second Reading and committee stage in the House of Commons recently. MPs have a very low opinion of this industry.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business in the not too distant future.

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • It has the correct number plate on the paperwork stuck to the windscreen. Is it possible they logged it wrong?
