Short term Tenancy is 6 months, long term is generally 1yr + negotiated with LA or LL553780080

The minimum period is usually 6 months - called an Assured Shorthold Tenancy. Standard terms are about a year, perhaps with a 6 month break clause and a periodic tennancy (2 months notice on both sides)
Long term is, I think, maybe 2+ years.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -
1 months notice by the tennant and 2 by the landlord is normal.
Although polite tennants will give their LL as much notice as possible and vice versaBankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -

1 month for the tenant and 2 months for the LL is normal once the AST is finished and the tenant enters into a periodic tenancy.
If a long term rental is agreed, I believe that the rental becomes fixed for say 1 year and the negotiation to leave the rental is 2 months by either party after the initial four month period.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.
