Insure your car for FREE.....
There are now 3 companies offering a FULL refund if you find a cheaper quote, the time scale ranges from 14 day's upto a month (14 day's, 28 day's & 1 Month "31 day's" if you time it right).
Get the most expensive of these three, move to the next "getting your refund" & finally onto the last...... Toward the end of the final freebie follow Martin's article Click Here to find the cheapest insurer, if this insurer is cheaper get your final refund, if not stick with the cheapest of the three. If your insurance is approximately £350 per year this will give you an approximate freebie worth £70 pounds.
Is it worth the aggrevation? You tell me!!

So what companies are they then....?0

Very interesting, could work really well for young/new drivers like myself.
But as Eldbs says... who are they?0 -
It would be a LOT of aggravation.
You would have to provide proof of NCD to each insurer, and explain why the expiry date of your old policy doesn't tie up to the start date of the new policy. It would become pretty obvious you were doing something strange by the second, or third time you repeated this.
You would also have to pay out for each policy before you got the refund from the previous one, so there would be a cashflow impact - if the debit and the credit straddled a credit card invoice date at least, even if you paid on credit card.
And premiums change so frequently that you could easily come unstuck, and miss out on a cheaper premium because it's no longer available (and yes, I know this could work both ways, but the point is your refund would no longer apply if rates had moved upwards and you'd be stuck with the higher price).
It's an interesting idea, but I don't think I could be bothered with the hassle.0 -
The real aggravation is if you have a claim and they won't pay up. With insurance, it's better to find a reliable company that pays up, and pay a bit more, than penny pinch and then find out what they're really like when you have a claim.
PS. Anyone seen this weeks What Car, with the story about Direct Line not paying up?
After the bloke had his car stolen they asked him to send the keys. They then argued that there must have been a third key that was used by the thief, because their expert could tell from the key wear that the two he gave them hadn't done as much mileage as the car had!!0 -
That's an interesting case! Most cars come (from new) with two sets of keys, not three, so they must have been very suspicious to go round giving the keys to a key expert to check for wear.
And surely the mileage is irrelevant - reps who do 40,000 miles a year on the motorway aren't going to have any more key wear than someone who drives to work and back, stopping to drop off the kids, visit the shops, or whatever.0 -
If they asked me for my keys I could only supply one key, that's all I have, I'm not going to pay rip off prices for another key. I;ll look after the one I have.0
-
key wear wont really be an issue if your key has remote locking and bearing in mind most reps do big motorway miles with the key in and not reinsertion of itbe happy!0
