FTA contract on a joint mortgage

Hi I was wondering if someone can help with my query. Me and my partner are looking to buy our first home together. He is permenant at his job however I have a 23 months Fixed term contract. I was on an agency contract for 11 months for the same role before I got this contract. I have spoken to a few banks nationwide and Halifax. Nationwide have told me it would have been possible if my employers had been the same for a year. As I was with a recruitment agency before, my employers would be different to who I am with now even though I am doing the same job.
Can anyone advise what I can do in this situation?
