Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help with what this letter we have just received from Gladestones?
We have sent our defence to the court they have received it.
We received Gladestones directions questionnaire as predicted they wanted a paper hearing, we will be declining this. we are still waiting for ours directions questionnaire.
But yesterday we received a further letter from Gladestones stating:
Dear xxx
Request for rectification of data (name)
We write further to your defence received 29th October 2018, when you provided a different name to the name we hold on file.
We require sufficient documentation to enable us to verify your identity. Please provide proof of name (driving license/passport) of the name you wish for us to hold.
These documents can be emailed to DataProtectionofficer@gladestones
Please note we do not retain identification documents.
Under the general data protection regulation we are obliged to respond to your request within one month of receiving it but please note that one month compliance will not start until we receive proof of your identity.
Please note we may close your request if we do not receive the above mentioned documentation from you within 10 working days of the date of this letter.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance. This matter is being dealt with by xxx under the firms data protection officer who will be pleased to assist.
I did not provide a different name on my defence,
I may be a little to suspicious here but I don’t trust any of the correspondence with them so should I be suspicious or do I send them over the proof of identity?
Thanks for your time.

OH dear, incompetence from them keeps rolling in.
If nothing has changed then tell them and there is no reason to provide the documents requested.
Of course you are right not to trust them with data given their history of setting up a scam0 -

What a bunch of clowns:D
If that wording that I've underlined means they are discontinuing the claim, well what can you say, crack on!! hahaha
On a serious note I doubt it means that, Did you send them a SAR? because that's what the reply looks like to me (sort of?), in the meantime just carry on with your defence as you have been doing and let them shoot themselves in Court0 -
They are a joke.
How can they hold a different name on file when they are sending correspondence to the correct person??
Maybe they mean to baffle us with their stupidity
On a serious note.... I’m just worrying that in some way by us not providing them with what they are requesting we could in some way jeopardise our case?
I may email them stating there is no need to provide any documents as the name on our defence is the same name they hold for us?0 -
Nothing to worry about imo, I doubt it would do any harm emailing them and putting them right but I'm no expert in this side of dealing with the scammers and Gallstones.
Why not hang fire with your email until one of the regulars confirms what is the best course of action, I'm a big fan of knowing when to speak and when not to speak and this could be one of those instances.0 -
Thank you, I agree! I’ll wait to see the best way to respond.... or not 😉 thanks for your help.0

Just respond back, acting with confusion, and state you are unawares why they have sent this letter. Is it maybe in error, and this was a rectification notice prompted by someone else?
It cannot in any way shape or form hurt you in court.0 -
Can I check, your name matches the named defendant on the claim form, yes?I did not provide a different name on my defence,
You didn't try to defend a claim where the named D is not you, e.g. to try to protect your other half or something (you can't do that). I am wondering because you keep saying 'we' have sent 'our' defence but it's not a joint thing. It's only for the named Defendant to defend - just checking that was you in the claim form?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes all matches. The named driver is my husband. I just say we as in us both.
We are baffled as to why they have sent this we will email them today see if we can get any sense out of them..... unlikely?0
