Legal rights regarding sale to We Buy Any Car

Unless it was on one of those hire purchase or other finance agreements where you pay a penalty for every mile you go over the average usage. What'd be the point of clocking it there though? There can't be that much difference in value between 77k and 90k? Why not give it a more believable figure like 80k?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
It's illegal to sell a car that you know has been clocked,No, it isn't.
What I should have said was that it's illegal to clock a car with intent to sell it, and then sell it with that knowledge. It's a fine line however.
I am sure if you were the boss of an organisation who systematically knowingly bought cars from a clocker and sold them onwards, Trading Standards would eventually get a hold of you...hopefully.
I have been struggling to find the exact law however.

"The Government will look into this matter. Clocking with the intent to sell is a criminal offence and any suspected breaches should be passed on to Trading Standards to investigate."0 -
Or you could just have read past the first three words of my post. What I should have said was that it's illegal to clock a car with intent to sell it, and then sell it with that knowledge. It's a fine line however.

Simple: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/35/section/2I have been struggling to find the exact law however.
Trade description laws also cover it, but Fraud by Misrepresentation is by far and away the more powerful legislation.0
