Sort of. I've had it happen but i wouldn't say to the seller you HAVE to send it to me now!!! Which in a roundabout way is what he's getting at. I just accepted that they weren't going to pay, i got my fees refunded & i relisted. No point in getting all worked up over something that's out of your control is how i see it.

Is that how you'd proceed in this situation? You wouldn't send the item out?

Right now it's actually escalated to more than what i was offered elsewhere (although with fees it's probably going to be about even or pence less).

I've sold items over the years & not once had a negative so 1 negative my way doesn't bother me really. I expect he'll leave a neg or neutral at the very best but hey ho.

True but if more bids come in then i'm actually money UP on what i would've been ... plus it gets rid of some junk out of my house & another box (which is irritating my wife at the moment - the amount of boxes i'm keeping for all the stuff i'm wanting to send:rotfl:)

Completely up to you which of your sites you honour the sale on, I had taken your earlier posts to mean that you had already decided, or even disposed of the item elsewhere. If however you now follow through on the ebay sale then it's probably easier as no other informal site has such costly penalties as ebay for withdrawing from a sale.

  • As bids are coming in perhaps you will be better off disappointing the Shpock buyer and letting ebay run its course?

Let me look into my crystal ball... There's going to be a thread on here in a few days from a sorely disappointed Shpock buyer saying he's had it with Shpock and, Why do incapable Shpock sellers never keep their end of the deal!

Does your crystal ball work for lottery numbers too?
  • Rather than make a new thread:

can you suggest a good accurate calculator for eBay to work out what you need to list at to make a set amount?

So let's say i'm selling a cup (can be any item, just said cup as i've got one in front of me) and let's say i want £10 for it in my pocket.

On Facebook (for example) i list it at £10+postage. Someone pays or collects and i get my £10 in my pocket.

On eBay to make £10 (in this example) i'll need it to sell for more than £10 once final value fees are taken in to account on both the item and postage (that didn't used to be a thing did it?) and then PayPal take their cut as well.

I don't list a great deal so at the moment i don't have any insertion fees.

It'd just be easier to run a calculator than for me to sit and work out what i actually need to list an item for in order to get what i want for it.

    Thanks, that should save time.
  • How long does someone have to pay before you can cancel their bid & move on?

The person who won the item this thread is about sniped with about 30 seconds remaining.

Now i know they don't HAVE to pay immediately but if you're at the computer that close to auction end....?!?

On the ONE occasion i won an auction like that and didn't pay immediately, i contacted the seller immediately & explained that i would make the payment the next day, which i did.

I've had someone locally get in touch through Facebook asking to pick it up. I said sorry i can't - sold on eBay but waiting on payment. They said if it falls through then please get back in touch.

I had a look and it seems they have 48 hours to pay before i can open a claim against them - but then they have a further 4 days to pay.

Can i just wait 6 days or do you need to do that 2 day claim thing first?

Personally i would like to avoid that if possible because it surely only serves to irritate them and when the buyer holds all the cards & then some in eBay land, that's not something i want to be doing.

Most snipes are done by specialist websites so your buyer was probably nowhere near their PC. As for The non paying bidder process, and I can't believe you are asking already it as you say, you need to wait 2 days before you can open the NPB And then a further 4 days to close it. Only at the end of those 6 days can you safely re list or offer somewhere else.

Whilst it is possible to open the NPB on day 2 that is a bit quick , but it is entirely up to the individual seller.

and I can't believe you are asking already
And why not? What is wrong with being informed?

Look at it this way. All things good then i never needed to ask.

However IF they don't pay, i could then come here, make a thread asking what the situation is, wait (some unknown time) for a reply, on the back of which i may or may not have further questions.

    OR

I could do the asking now and just 'know' if i ever find myself in the situation. It doesn't necessarily have to be for this exact sale. It might be the next one, or the one after.

Anyway, can you not just wait for 6 days and then put in a claim (& they'd have no further 4 days because they'd have already had their 6?)

And you can get websites to snipe for you? And here's me sitting up in the early hours trying to get that limited edition pen i've been wanting all my life. :rotfl:

The only way to put through an NPB case and recover your fees is to do the 2 day/4 day process. Although as already said there's no need at all to,open it on day 2 , it can be opened for 30 days after sale but once opened would need the 4 days before it can be closed.

There is a thread somewhere about sniping sites , so no need to sit up all night at all.
