Hi
I have read and re-read the sticky thread and just get more confused.
I received a private fine from Smart Parking for parking in Poundstretcher, Middlesbrough. At the time I came on here and the advice seemed go be ignore it.
Since then I have received two Debt Recovery Plus Letters demanding payment (£150) and the latest one gave me until end of November before instigating court action.
I have looked at so many threads my head is spinning, do I continue to ignore, reply, send a letter to Smart Parking .............
I do not live in Middlesbrough was up there for a funeral but did some shopping in Poundstretcher.
Appreciate any help,
Sheila

You would have had it cancelled with ONE template email, had you not read old threads. This was an easy one.
As it stands you have opened yourself up to endless hilarious drivel of debt collector letters. Smart don't sue people, at the date of me typing this, so nothing is likely to come of it. Just letters for years, all scary & in bold/red font, LOL!
But what happened when you complained to the Store Manager or Head Office of the retailer? PLEASE don't reply ''I didn't, is it too late?' No of course it's not, even without a receipt.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Firstly, thank you for your patience. You must hear this all the time.
I haven't approached the Store at all, will call them today.
Yes it was probably old advice but there's so many posts relating to parking fines.
I take it I don't reply to DRP then? I can see how they scare people with their threatening letters....
Thank you again

Complain to the store and get it cancelled.

Good morning
I have received a Debt Recovery Plus letter, it's requesting a final settlement to avoid court action.
I am getting a little bit worried now, please advise me on what to do?
Kind regards
Julie0 -
Everyone is politely asked to read up on this in the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum before posting here
See #4 in the FAQ for advice on debt collectors.
You can safely ignore them
If you need further advice after studying the FAQ then you must start your own thread.
Please don't post in this thread any more

How come people don't just read the NEWBIES thread post #4, and/or search the forum and find things like this thread?
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5035663/read-this-before-you-start-a-new-thread-about-zzps-or-debt-recovery-plus
But can I assume you have read the thread 'Successful Complaints about PPCs' that is linked in the NEWBIES thread? Hundreds of examples of complaining to a retailer and easily getting a fake PCN cancelled on the spot.
It's all there yet we repeat ourselves about fifty times a day (no joke, we really do handle 5 pages worth of new posts/threads here very single day, and 99% of stuff is due to people not reading the sticky thread...).
Today is typical, we have about 85 new posts/threads and the regulars have answered every single one even though it's all in the sticky thread already!
We hate these scammers that much. And most of us also have day jobs, me included.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you Beamerguy, going to call the Store in the morning.
Coupon Mad, in our defence I did read, and read, and read all those threads but some were going back a few years. Thank you for all your advice.0 -
So Poundstretcher have nothing to do with the parking allegedly. The Manager told me it's run by Smart Parking and they don't get involved.
I shall continue to follow advice and hold my nerve when the threateningletters arrive. Thanks again0 -
Smart are taken on by the landowner, so that's where the complaint goes (not Poundstretcher & CERTAINLY the owner is not Smart!).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
