Stuck in Limbo with £40K

Hi.
I have saved £40k for my first house.
I'm trying to save at leas £100k.
But I don't like any of the houses for £100k.
They're not worth the money, way overpriced.
I feel like I'm stuck right in the middle of nowhere with my savings.
I might as well have £0 saved because what I have saved now will buy me nothing on the open market.
I feel like I'm saving, but not getting anywhere significant.
Ideally, I would like to save £200k, but it's impossible.
Getting to £100k will be hard work, but it's doable if I work hard.
I feel like I'm stuck, no matter what I do.
Ideally I want a £200k house, which is still just an average house.
Should I wait until after Brexit to see if prices come down?

Can you not buy with a mortgage like most people?

40k should be plenty for your deposit and legal fees.

Why wouldn't you get a mortgage?

If you want to buy outright you'll be waiting a long time.

Bizarre but entertaining posts. Bit reminiscent of Walter Mitty.

I would love to know what he does for Amazon as they seem to be sending him quite large sums of money but obviously doesn't work for them.

According to your posts, you have saved £10k in the last 4 months, so at this rate it'll only take you around 6 years to achieve your objective.

As it's taking me about 10 years to achieve my personal housing objective, I'm clearly not the right person to advise you.*

*Alternative houses, locations and objectives are available, some of them totally unattainable.

In August you had £50k and wanted a £220k house. What has changed your expectations in the last 3 months. Perhaps somewhere in the middle is where you should be aiming
    No.79 save £12k in 2020. Total end May £11610
    Annual target £24000
