  • You're still going to have to explain where the money came from regardless of how long it's been in the account. If you say it's a loan you may get rejected again on affordability.

    If you say it's a gift they'll want a letter from your Dad stating this. He'll also need to explain how he obtained the money and provide bank statements.

    I think a few of the replies here have forgotten to mention to the OP that this would be committing fraud. OK, the odds of being caught would be low, but the consequences if caught, long term and painful.
