Sweet Potato cutting - will it survive?

A branch of my Sweet Potato plant has layered and is well rooted. I'm tempted to pot it up and keep it on the windowsill in the house for the winter. Has it a chance of surviving? I'm game to have a try.
The main plant was bought from the Garden Centre last Spring and has been in a large deep pot in the (unheated) greenhouse, producing a good crop.

Tell me your secret..... Never had a decent crop of Sweet Potatoes.

Have you grown them before? Maybe the summer we had is what they need? Probably should have tried this year..

This is the third year I've grown them. Well established plants are in the Garden Centres in the Spring, with instructions for the particular variety. They are all bred to thrive in this country. i grow them in my unheated greenhouse, and they have to be in a deep pot - at least 2 feet deep, as the roots go deep. Apparently in the ground it may not be possible to dig deep enough to harvest the crop, so the roots need confining. They need a lot of water.
It is possible to root a shop bought sweet potaro. One of ours sprouted in the kitchen so I grew it on.
The last 2 years they produced 3 large potatoes each time, and this year I can tell there are several in the tub. I will be harvesting them with my 5 year old assistant next week.
They're not very MSE if you have to buy the plants, but they are fun!

Yeah a lot of the time its will it work and a miracle if it does rather than i must do it to save money.

If something grows and is edible its a bonus :)

Like my Ginger plant, that was doing well then we got an unexpected frosty night it died :(

Venus flytraps.. :( Never had any success overwintering them. Seems even indoors they dont like the temperature dropping overnight.
But we cant sleep with the central heating on unless we want to wake up all dry mouthed and headaches.

I've had success with Beauregard this year.

Note to self:- Do a better job of protecting from slugs next year.
