I have been in the work related activity group for about 6 months and have recently got a part time job. I thought great, no more pressure, at my last appointment I thought I would just tell him that and that would be it, maybe a 6 month visit instead of monthly, but no.
All he could talk about was getting more hours, up to 30! I only saw him briefly as I was put with a group that day. But what the hell! 30 hours means no more ESA. I really struggle with the work I am doing now as I have mental health issues. Can they be forcing me to leave benefits now after only 6 months after passing my ESA interview.

I believe working PT even doing permitted work on ESA is risky, even though it says permitted work is allowed on paper. Obviously working permitted work or finding suitable PT work is keeps mind busy but according to ESA it somehow is a excuse to get people off ESA.

As far as I know, no they cannot force you. The advisor would want you to do this as you'd be another statistic of ESA WRAG claimant who then goes into ft work. Looks great for him and for the DWP.

All I can suggest is you explain each time this is suggested the reasons why you cannot do it.

Maybe to show willing you could offer to re visit the issue in a few months after you have settled into current work hours. Then regretfully at that time find you are unable to increase hours.

If you feel the advisor is not listening then make a formal complaint.

According to DWP they can sanction you for not turning up without a valid good excuse! What is good in your eyes might not be in their eyes!

I have many hospital appointments regularly and generally feel unwell. Was moved to WRAG to get their numbers down.
