is this a ppi scam to get full payment

i can not remember the name of the company id did it with as the paper work is at home and its took that long i forgot about it.plus they rang me and i work away all week as a hgv driver.ok i should of asked and listen a bit more but when they call u and ur driving and im on hands free its not that easy to pull over on m3 when u just pasted services.
got a claim come through for 2700 the company who did it with. say they will post cheque to me not a problembut when i bank it ill loose 1700 for charges unless i take life insurnace out.then ill get the full payout.they have rang today about 15 times but when im driving and can not sort things out when i doing that properly.but i did getthe name of the life insureance firm.they want me to us. they are uk life protect.im going to try and get more details tomorrow before i do anything.
has anyone else been told they loose so much of they did not take life insurnace out.just checking to see if th is a scam

That wording is a well known scam. Its not just dodgy. Its outright fraud.

finally after 2 days of not being able to answer phone to these guys due to be always driving.i spoke to them today.they said the company was santander who the money came from a sum of £2700 and cheque was waiting to be sent even gave me a cheque number to.the company is called glaston brooke ltd guy on phone said they was based in manchester.but when i checked their website comes up with a warrington phone number.i asked why should i take life insurance out to get full payment if the money was for me and no fee where involved yes they said id loose 1700 if i not take the life insurance yet i already have some.when i said its sounds like a scam he started saying it was not if i did not want the ppi money why am i wasting their time yet they rang me.then when i said scam again he started to get annoyed and sweared at me yet all this was being recorded he ssaid at the beginning.so i said what will his boss think when he hears it back and how he spoke to me.he sounded asain to me yet gave me a english name of jack williams after about 8mins he finally put phone down on me.im tempted to phone the landline number tomrrow when i get home and see is they have ever tried to claim for me as i have no papers or info saying i used them.

If you have a complaint against Santander, or anyone else, for heaven's sake just phone them.

And have you employed Gladstone Brookes to put in a complaint about PPI on your behalf?
this involves signing a contract with them.
Have Santander written to you acknowledging your complaint and letting you know about the FOS (a mandatory requirement). Have they also written to you to let you know the outcome of your complaint (also a requirement)?

That is unlawful. It is as simple as that.

It probably want being recorded. Scammers can tell you whatever they like.

If Santander had any money for you, they would have sent it to you!

im not at all they rang me and ican recall ever asking them to make a claim for me at all.im using one firm who have already sent forms out which i signed and one more is waiting for me at home to sign.plus it should be all done by xmas to.they have been ringing me ive never contacted them at all this week or at any other time

Does a number come up on your phone when they ring you? If it does put that number into "www.whocallsme.com", find out what everyone else says about it.

If you employ a company to reclaim PPI they generally charge around 20%. The amount this company are saying it would cost you is about 63%. What they are after is your bank/card details in order to extract a lot of cash, they would probably empty your bank account.

Also, if you employ an agent to reclaim your PPI it is generally done by post, or, at the very least, email, it is not done over the phone. As for the cheque number, anyone can make up a cheque number and give you it over the phone, it is just a series of digits.
