I recently purchased a sofa bed and tub chair from Argos online and they were delivered to my home by an another carrier because I live in a remote place. The sofa bed is fine but the chair is faulty - the legs won't screw in at all. I phoned Argos that day, and they said I would be phoned by the carrier to arrange a return date. As I didn't receive any call from the carrier, I decided to take the chair back myself. It is a 2-hour drive in both directions, so 4 hours motoring.
The store refused to take the chair back. One of the assistants actually carried it back to my car. They said they couldn't take the returned chair as it had been delivered to my home. I don't think I will ever order from Argos again. Wondering if anyone else has ever experienced anything like this and also wondering how I am going to get my money back, the £100 I spent on the chair.

Probably not what you want to hear but....
The Argos returns information is really clear on large home delivered items only being able to be returned via home collection. A chair would count as this.
They followed their policy & didnt do anything wrong.
Call them again and advise you are still waiting to hear from their carrier as they havent booked collection. It would have saved a few hours and a lot of hassle sorting it out over the phone.

You took a 4 hour drive after not hearing from the courier, rather than trying to chase it up over the phone?
It was delivered to your house and needs to be collected/replaced from your house. I've done it a few times and it's usually pretty slick (albeit not with an external courier).0
