Hi all, my OneSelect Fixed tariff is coming to an end in a months time. Really surprised at how expensive all the other tariffs are.

I have signed up with Ebico but I can still cancel, so just wanted other MSEs to give me their opinion on the market for me.

My current usage Dec 2017 to Sept 2018:
4153Kw DAY
8339Kw NIGHT

Current Tariff due to end
Unit Rate (Day) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 12.9800p/kWh
Unit Rate (Night) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6.9720p/kWh
Standing Charge . . . . . . . . . . 24.62p/day (£89.86/year)
DD is £110 a month

Switching to:
Ebico Night-Owl V2
Standing charge:
92.86p/day

Day unit rate:
19.1596p/kWh

Night unit rate:
0p/kWh

I also considered Spark(!). Any suggestions?

Thanks! :)

Asking for advice is a meaningless exercise as costs vary with usage and postcode. Use any price comparison website to carry out a full market comparison. This will give you a list of the cheapest suppliers for your usage. then look at the feedback threads before making a final decision.

    FWiW:

Running a comparison for your usage and my postcode (35%Day and 65%Night), gives the following results:

    Economy Energy 7 £1350/year
    Powershop £1361/year
    Utility £1403/year
    Bulb £1509/year
    Ebico £1668/year

In the greater scheme of things, monthly DD payments are meaningless. What matters is your annual cost.

As I posted in the Ebico review thread, their night owl fair usage condition (60% max night time usage on economy 7) applies to every month and if you exceed this (as most homes using economy 7 heating will) they will switch you to an alternate tariff with 7 days notice to you. So if you switch to them now then expect to be switching away again in the new year (which might still be worth while to get a couple of months at lower cost).

I assume that the consumption you are quoting is for 10 month so for 12 month it will be approx day 4983 at a cost of £647 and night 10,006 at a cost of £698. Total with standing charge is £1435 ie DD of £119 a month so you will owe £84 at the end of the year.
Considering prices have gone up a lot Hengus has given you some useful lower examples. But you may have to clear any money owing befor existing suplier allows you to switch.
