Hi, someone I may know, may have received a Parking Charge Notice In the post (with a picture of the date and time they may have left the car park) they may have parked in a space that was free for 30 minutes. They may have gone over by an hour (they may have thought it was totally free parking with no limit) the Parking charge notice came from a company called Civil Enforcement Ltd stating £60 (no reduced fee for quick payment) we looked on various threads, most of them saying ignore it. we received another letter from them again saying pay now! Again we ignored, he now has a letter from ZZPS debt collection saying the fee now £170, and if no payment received they will proceed with further action with court proceeding and he will be issued with a CCJ, so, as we followed previous info that said ignore, have we made a mistake? We have not made contact throughout, so do we just pay the £170 to stop price increase, or will they proceed further as they have taken it to this point, (and if we pay after the court hearing does that stop the CCJ) I have read various Newbie threads, but this is just a minefield and don’t know what’s right or wrong, If Someone could point us in right direction please, that would be great, however I do feel if the fine had been lower at the start and maybe £30 I would of paid this in the beginning whether it was wrong or right, it was only the amount that stopped me from doing so! Thank you for any help
Amended- By PCN in the title i mean parking charge notice ( Sorry if title was confusing )

You didn't get advised here to ignore the PCN!

Now all you can do is wait and see if they do proceed to court action

If it comes to this then come back for advice on how to deal with it at that time

#2 in the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum covers Court claims

Throughout here you are advised never to reveal who was driving

You need to edit your post to remove details of who was driving

    It is not a fine.

The advice to ignore has not been given here since the law changed in 2012.

You should start by reading the sticky thread for NEWBIES that tells you all about this unregulated industry.
Post 4 of the NEWBIES tells you why it is safe to ignore powerless debt collectors.

You could send a late appeal, but it will be rejected. At least it will show that you tried to engage with them. Alternatively you continue to ignore now unless you get a LBA/LBC/MCOL. Unfortunately CEL do take people to court but MSE has a very good win rate against them.

Post 2 of the NEWBIES tells you how to deal with a court claim. They can't just "give someone a CCJ." That's a daytime TV myth.

What happened when you complained to the landowner?

You DO NOT pay £170 because you DO NOT owe that amount

ZZPS add on fake charges to extort money from you and they speak a whole load of rubbish
You totally ignore ZZPS because they can do NOTHING. Only CEL can take it further

YOU NEED TO READ UP ON THESE SCAMMERS

Ignore the ZZPS rabble and just wait to see if CEL contact you.

The £60 is the claim, not a fake £170. CEL are well known to the courts as they bring rubbish claims and mostly they end up backing down ......

CEL and ZZPS are scammers approved by the BPA (British Parking Association)

Miss orchard, go back to the screen where you hit the New Thread button earlier.

On that page, the third thread down is the one you are looking for - entitled:
**NEWBIES!! PRIVATE PARKING TICKET? OLD OR NEW? **READ THESE FAQS FIRST!** Thankyou!

Post #5 in that thread will explain most of the acronyms used.
