A company can set the pay day when they like for the pay period. Could be weeks later.

What do you think usually happens in the 3rd and 4th week of December each year?

Yes, Christmas can mess around anyone who's paid at the end of the month, so you're either paid in advance (making January a very long month) or arrears, which is what your place has chosen. They haven't said you won't be paid, just not when you're usually paid, due to public holidays. Both methods are entirely legal.

Furthermore, you've been give a couple of months notice so it's not as if it's a surprise; put some aside this and next month so you're not short, and it's problem solved.

If your personal finances are such that being paid 2 weeks late in one month of the year when you're given 2 months notice is going to cause you issues you're both asking the wrong question and asking on the wrong board and you should be on the Debt Free Wannabe board asking how to sort out the mess you're in.

The pay is being delayed a maximum of 6 days more/less depending on how they deal with BH Fridays with the current system

Dec 2018 will have moved 3 days.

Changing your pay date is usually a breach of contract if you don't agree, but is it something that it's worth fighting? You need to pick your battles sometimes.

Are you normally paid at the end of the month but only for work done up to 16th? So December salary will be half what it usually is?
