Mis typed reg in ANPR car park....

Options
The driver entered a PE anpr car park and mistyped the reg. One letter was incorrect we realise - as such are PE required / obliged to send the evidence to us if we request it as plainly it will show that the fee was actually paid but just one letter was mistyped.? Also are there any popla wins that people are aware of where a case has been won based on the simple mistype error ie fee was paid so nothing is due?

Many thanks

Most judges would say that this is a trifling matter, and the Law does not concern itself with trifles.

There are several wins in court, but PoPLA are likely to support the PPC.

Start by reading the sticky thread for NEWBIES which will tell you just about everything you need to know concerning this unregulated scam, and the best way to appeal if/when the inevitable PCN arrives through your letter box.

Make sure you do not reveal the driver's identity.

Do complain to your MP about these cowboys using the information you will find in the NEWBIES.

I'd say, show PE the ticket (use their online appeals page but DO NOT choose 'driver' in the drop down menu, obviously) and point out the single digit error and the fact the IPC (rival trade body) has publicly said their members must cancel PCNs with a single digit error or not issue them at all.

Say you trust ParkingEye and the BPA do not have lower standards than the IPC.

    Use THOSE words.

Do not use words that imply who the driver was, not ''my ticket'' or ''I input the VRN wrong''.

    THEIR MACHINE registered it wrong.

Meanwhile, if there is a cinema/hotel/retailer on site, send the same complaint to them and ask them to cancel it, if PE don't.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
