Using Auxillis for car repair and hire car

I have been involved in an accident where the 3rd party has reversed in to my parked car. the driver admitted fault and i have a witness, although the driver was just using a company car. I have received a call from a company called Auxillis who i was told about from my insurance comapny. They can arrange the repair and a courtesy car. Having read up about this i believe it is done on a credit hire purchase and that i would be responsible if the other insurance comapny won't admit liability or something?

is it ok to just go ahead and use them? I don't really know the alternative. I have read that you can get in touch with the 3rd party insurance and they can provide the hire car? What about the repair. I don't actually know who the 3rd party insurer is as the driver didn't know. He said to call the company that he works for but i haven't as i assumed the insurance company would do it all

A similar thing happened to me - hit by a company van.

I phoned the company, and they gave me details of their insurers.

I phoned their insurers and they almost fell over themselves trying to be helpful. (Presumably because they didn't want me to use an accident management company like the one you mention).

They let me use my choice of main dealer for the repairs and provided a good hire car (better than my damaged one).

And since they agreed to everything, there is no risk that they will later refuse to pay, etc.

However, depending on the company involved, there is a possibility that they are 'self-insuring', so they may take a very different approach.
  • Hi thanks for the response. The company who the driver works for has called me and wants to do it all privately. I said i will get a couple of quotes. I was thinking i shouldn't have been so quick to call my insurance company but i haven't agreed to anything with them and i presume i would have had to notify them anyway?
