No economy 7 since smart meter installed ebico

Hi and thanks in advance for your help
I was all happy and working with economy 7 but i was required to get my meter updated (apparently the old one was a long way past end of life)
There has been 2 problems since, the meter dosent know my tarrif and only shows 1 electricity supply at the basic rate on the smart panel (i have been assured that it isnt a problem and they will update it soon (its been months) my tarrif is still economy 7 when i view my bill
But the big problem is my night storage heaters now don't work (they are the only night thing) ebico have not been very helpful they say it is in no way their problem and sugested i get an electrian out at my expense (not even my expense if my fault they pay if theirs)
I raised a formal complaint and they said they would review it in 15 days

So please help me

In some parts of the country the Economy 7 system used the meter/timeswitch arrangement to switch the supply to the heaters on and off. The heaters would be on a separate 'fuseboard' which only got power during the E7 hours.

Do you know if this is the way your E7 and storage heaters are set up? If so, then if the meter is faulty or incorrectly programmed then it might not be supplying power to the 'night' 'fuseboard'.

If you aren't sure, can you post pictures of your meter and fuseboard(s) so we can see how your supply is set up.

  • Hi Thank you so much for replying
After posting this i phoned UK networks and they said it would be a meter problem
So i tried ebico again and after a few rexplanations i think it might be fixed as my meter monitor now shows the right tarriff (took them about a minute to do) so why it was left unconfigured for months i don't know
So i just have to wait and see if the heating charges up tonight
  • If im still in the cold tommrow i will post pictures fingers crossed
  • The update of the meter fixed it
So glad i didn't take them at their word! Huge thanks to eachpenny for the great advice
