CCTV system recommendations and Installation help

Hi All,
I am hoping for some advice on a CCTV system.
Long story short. On Saturday I noticed that my girlfriends car had been keyed. As we only use it for driving lessons its defiantly occurred when parked outside the house. A few months ago my neighbors car suffered the same vandalism. And now I've just bought a new car which I obviously want to do my best to protect, So I have been looking into CCTV.
The car is parked on the drive directly in front of the house about 40cm away from the property, So I assume I will need something with a wide viewing angle. Two camera's might be enough but a 4 channel system would be better. I'm also after something with decent quality footage during day / night. I'd like something which only requires the single wire per camera and also has everything required in the package. I don't want to have to buy an Ethernet switch. It would be nice to be able to connect to the NVR over network but wifi would be better than wired.
Any recommendations?
Also as i'll be fitting these myself can anyone outline the common practices for fitting? My idea is to route the cables on the outside of the house and have the single entry point but I guess this wouldn't be secure as the cable could be cut. So are the cables usually routed in the loft space?
Thanks for any help

CCTV wont protect your car.
CCTV will draw attentiont o your property.
CCTV is reactive, in that youll never stop someone carrying out the crime, its just increases the likelihood of someone being caught.
The police, at the moment, are unlikely to do anything unless you can give the, name, address and 4k footage of someone keying your car to them. Ideally youdve already sent out the warning letter to the perpetrator.
People who key cars are not typically doctors and lawyers. IF convicted youll get £1 a year off them forever until the debt is settled.
Save the £200+ of CCTV equipment and buy a £3 paint touch up pen.0 -
Do you want a full kit or just 1/2 cameras?
I would recommend the Hikvision range for ease of use and install.
For 1/2 cameras you are looking at around £75-£200 each for IP cameras that support SD cards (price depends on pixels)
If you just want budget 4 camera kits then amazon have quite a range starting at £80 (zosi, annke etc)
For installation steel trunking to protect if cabling externally.0 -

I don't expect CCTV to prevent the damage, But it would give me a better chance of identifying who did it. As I stand at the moment some lowlife has vandalized my girlfriends car and there's absolutely squat I can do about it. There's not even a reason to report it.0 -

From what I've read about so far Hikvision does seem the brand to go for but they only sell to vendors now and I don't want to pay the installation cost.0 -
I got mine from https://www.hdcctv.co.uk/ 2 1/2 years ago two bullet cameras and 2GB recorder. Cameras are IP are I can view them from pc, and phone, or via tv connected to recorder. Very easy to set up both cameras are on my car parking outside. I have had car hit 3 times now two hit n runs and street is a very quite street no through traffic as its a dead end. I have caught one thief with it one night trying to steal a garden bench, I do have added security lights
The yellow marks on timeline show some movement usually cats. I also blank some areas out for privacy

No street light after 12 at night on one camera shown below0

I have the recorder connected to homeplugs This is more pictures I have two external boxes to keep the wiring waterproofed. The recorder is in my garage
The company seem very good when I bought them had issues connected to camera at first and he solved my problem.0 -
If you're buying IP cameras and a DVR recorder, make sure you get them all in one package. I don't like IP cameras as they are more hastle to setup / configure and use. If you get them as a package it should be easier.
I prefer AHD 1080 cameras as you can mix and match different suppliers etc, but you do require two cables, the coaxial signal cable and a 12v power cable.
I would definitely get the cameras fitted as you might find it's not some random stranger, but a neighbour with a grudge. Once you ID them and get the police involved it will probably stop them. Maybe go for one or two obvious cameras from a distance so you can see what's going on and a hidden camera up close to try and catch the faceChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -

Sound slike a good way to get wound up. Paying a few hundred quid for the same outcome.
A gate for your drive and pea gravel will make your drive a lot less appealing than any CCTV.0
