Free boiler - Eco 3 Government Scheme
Hi Guys,
I apologise if this is the wrong place for this post. We’ve requested information and a subsequent survey from a company who supplied free combi boilers and cavity wall insulation to people who get benefits (child benefit/family allowance in our case). Apparently, this is done under the governments ECO 3 deal/incentive. But it just seem too good to be true. The firm is local and obviously the man booking the intial appointment/ enquiry was a salesman, but he said the only cost I would incur is if I wanted an upgraded/specific boiler (as they usually supply Worcester it ideal) . Is this a con? Surely it can’t be this easy?

Welcome to the forum.
There were free boilers under the ECO scheme(not ECO 3) provided you met the stringent elegibility criteria. This was the NPower scheme which is not now accepting applications. https://www.npower.com/energy-efficiency/EcoScheme/!!!!!!/
This Government document gives more information about ECO3.

Eligibility is/was more stringent than "child benefit/family allowance in our case"
If the firm can get you a free boiler, go for it!; but don't pay them anything!0 -
As above , don't be conned into paying any "fees" for surveys or administrationEx forum ambassador
