Good morning my chums,
So my trip to Manchester was really good. My mum and I drove down on Friday afternoon to stay in a cheap hotel next to the airport. We arrived safe, in good time and were starving. We went to a local market but it was super busy so we jumped into a restaurant around the corner from my future work. It's a nice area so I'm glad my mum got to see it and would help give her peace of mind.
Saturday was busy with 8 different viewings booked, all back to back. We seen some absolute dives and others which were really nice. Needless to say, I'll be making some calls this morning regarding the nice ones. I've ran the maths and I can afford them, so it's all beginning to come together.
My Sunday was relaxed and I made the most of the extra hour by sleeping!!
This morning has been a nightmare though. I got up at 5.30 for the gym. Packed the car and drove into the city centre. As soon as I got there, I realised I'd left my work trousers and shirt. So I had to do an about turn. What a waste of time and petrol.
My front door then wouldn't close so I spent 30 minutes fixing that meaning that I'm now only just in work! Let's hope that the last of the mishaps for a Monday morning. Tonight I've got my usual Monday back to back games of football and chilli out defrosting for dinner.
TA - That's an amazing amount! Really well done to the extended family.
Ollie - Wait, what's magic soup? Is that just a Halloween themed soup?
Dumpling - Oh my, that's devastating. Hope you and Steve are doing ok.0 -
Lovely to read your update TA, and what a wonderful amount was raised to support the hospice.
A bit chilly here, it was -4C outside when I awoke but is up to -2C now. Today I'm dropping items off at the Red Cross shop and will be taking my watch for a new battery. Swimming in the afternoon.
Wrap up warm and have a good day. xxx0 -
Quick catch up as so many have posted since I did -
dumpling - so sorry to hear of your family's loss like that. Your poor SiL - and all at the party - must be reeling with the shock.
Nelski - lol at your Canadian friends' obsession with 'Mushy Peas' .................. and I don't blame 'em. We're quite addicted to them here too. I usually do a full box at a time and then freeze them into portions in takeaway containers :j.
snoozer - well done on your decluttering efforts - and finally 'ousting' the remnants of your DS's & DD's earlier lifestyles! My DD went ballistic when I 'accidentally disposed of' her Take That obsession :rotfl: - she's STILL obsessed with them even now. Think she takes after me in that respect - only MY obsession was 'Donovan' - and still is to some extent
.
Speky - glad to hear that your trip to 'Madchester' went well and that you've found a couple of suitable places - and how lovely that you took your DM with you. I'm sure that it will help to put her mind at rest about where you're going to be living/working. 'Us Mums' DO worry like crazy about our 'baby bears' when they're outside our arms' reach
! You've never heard of 'Nana's Magic Soup' - I'm sure you've seen the TV Commercial, as it's been running for over a year now.
wee midgie - keep warm - enjoy your day - especially your swim :j.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Lovely to see you posting TA and well done to your family raising all that money for the hospice. Your life has been on hold for a while and its going to take time for you to adjust. I know your family will help. I can understand the exhausted feeling, take time to rest........it will take a while to adjust, but you will get there. You will never forget but as time goes on it gets easier to bear.
Well quelle surprise, knock at the door at 8.30am, chaps here to sort out the garden......so two hefty chaps busy digging stuff up. They have two large railways sleepers to put in to hold the grass back where they are cutting out the second patio.
I have to go to the quacks this morning think I have a UTI again....... have been free for a while.....hey ho.......
Specky.....glad the trip to Manchester went well and that there are some flats you are interested in, good luck with getting sorted out, having moved many times I know what a nightmare it can be, especially when I ended up in hospital having a pacemaker fitted just a week before we were due to move.
Supper tonight is chicken salad with jacket spuds.
You will see a new badge on the side of this post. I have been awarded it for being debt free and proud.0 -
Morning all,
Very frosty this morning, all the neighbours were out scraping car windows. We were up early anyway as DH went to the loo at 5.30,I looked at my watch and thought it was 6.30,thought I'll have half an hour reading on my Kindle-it was only when I altered the backlight I saw the real time! Couldnt get back to sleep then but I'm looking after DGS today anyway as its a teachers training day and his Mummy is working.
I think we may catch the bus into town and visit the reopened museum as they have some dinosaur bonesThe only snag is I was meant to have some new breakfast bar stools delivered on Sat & got an email to say there was a delay & it would be an extra 1-2 days so not sure when they'll come now.DS who normally works from home is working away until Thursday so I can't rely on him being in as I usually do
I'll just check for any messages before we go.
Speky, glad the visit went well, hopefully you'll soon have a new place
Nelski- sounds like you enjoyed your weekend
Nmlc- hope the funeral goes ok.
TA- enjoy your day with DD and DGDs,they did really well fundraising in Bob's memory, well done them.I'm not surprised you've been weary, you've had so much stress and strain for a long time especially in the last few weeks.Hugs xx
Dumpling -so sorry to hear about your BIL,what a shock
Snoozer- we're the same with 'stuff' in the loft, and DH storage space on a local farm
I have to help DGS now with assembling his car trackHugs to those in need xx

Good morning, it is bright here but very cold from an overnight frost. I am wearing thermal socks but they are not therming much.
TA it was good to see you posting. I'm not at all surprised that you are tired, you have been under such a lot of stress. What a great fundraising total!
Speky that weekend sounds good.
My sympathies to all those who are unwell my sniffles are back, will this ever end, and I've managed to crick my neck. No idea how but it is difficult to turn my head.
No interesting plans though I may play with my new toy, the wiggly duster thinger. I may be forced to put the heating on, there are only so many layers that I can put on, and it is almost November now.
I need to go and charge my phone, all the battery life seems to have dropped out. It seems to keep the charge quite well but once it gets down to about 40 % it loses it quickly.
I cooked last night, roast piggy, and OH is cooking something to do with chicken today.
Hope everyone has asgood a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning all.
The HT is back at school today so his bed has been stripped and the bedding is in the wash. I've been cleaning downstairs and there's a pan of pea and ham soup on the stove - this is my 10 minute tea break.
It's good to see you posting again TA. Well done to everyone for the money that they raised for the hospice.
Dumpling what an awful shock for everyone. I'm so sorry.
Csarina I'm at the docs for something similar in half an hour. I hope you get sorted.
Speky fingers crossed that you get one of the decent places.
Nelski your weekend sounded like fun. I'm laughing at the mushy peas. When we used to go out with my uncle's band of a weekend, some social clubs sold trays of mushy peas as snacks. We liked those places best.
We're having a roast dinner tonight - I was too tired when we came home from seeing Bohemian Rhapsody yesterday to start making a roast so dinner was quick and easy. I'm in waiting for the cat food delivery this afternoon so it's easy enough to sort veg and stuff for a proper dinner. The film was really good and even the half of my little team that didn't really want to go said that it was worth watching and he'd enjoyed it.
Take care all of you0 -
Good morning from a bitingly cold East London
Apologies for not posting:o - no excuses - just sheer lazinessbut I have been reading along.
Nmlc, thanks for starting us off & hope the funeral goes as well as possible.
TA, what a marvellous amount of money raised by your family :T It brought a tear to my eye when I read about MrTA’s funeral - a true celebration of his life. Please take care of yourself.
Speky, sounds like you had a great time flat hunting with your mum - brought back happy memories of house hunting with my dear departed mumespecially the one house where the owner kept giving us strange/funny looks - I eventually realised she thought my mum & I were a couple :rotfl: & when I explained this my DM thought it was hilarious & almost fell over laughing
Tru, fingers crossed the deliveries come in the same one hour time slot
Nelski, sounds like a lovely w/e in ol’ London Town
Sending huge (((HUGS))) to ALL but especially Holly, taff & Polly.
I need to get a move on as I have plenty to do - not least of all writing a comprehensive To Do listas my brain is currently mush
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible
Keep warm

My special thinger for removing grot from behind radiators is quite good. So far I've only done 3 radiators, it is quite surprisingly strenuous, and enough fluff to make a nice little domestic pet.
I should add that this is not necessarily our dust. We are renting and househunting, disappointingly, that man has not liked any houses on the market in his preferred area (not my preferred area but s*d it). I don't think anyone has done much cleaning in the past. I did unravel a coat hanger a while ago, when I dropped a sock behind the radiator in our bedroom and I fished out a silver ring, two pairs of very fancy knickers and 18 million adverts for music events. The latter had gone v crispy. But that did not really deal with the dust.
Anyway I was cold before and now I am not.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Back from the quacks, slight infection but given medication to stop it getting any worse....yes it was me that had a series of infections earlier, I was concerned it was becoming chronic, that would have driven me daft. Have also got to arrange an xray appointment for my back. I nearly fell over in the surgery......when I went to get up.
Lunch calles OH is going to the evrgreens whilst I have a roam, if I can make it, round the town. Need to go to Wilko's and Boots.0
