APCOA - Luton Airport Stopping at a Red Traffic Light - WON

Options
PCN issued: 21-Aug-18
Contravention: 31-Jul-18
Contravention: "Dropping off or picking up outside designated areas at London Luton Airport Central terminal Area"

CCTV used to issue ticket for stopping at a red light! APCOA stated "Your vehicle was stopped on the airport approach road"

The vehicle driver was stopped at a red traffic light awaiting to turn right across the oncoming traffic to enter mid term car park!!! Yes it's true - these idiots issued a ticket to a car stopped, as required to do so by the Road Traffic Act, at a red traffic light!!! You could not make this up if you tried!

Mindless garbage received from APCOA demanding money with menace and appeal to APCOA citing obvious issues (byelaws not applicable, Airport Act 1986, no keeper liability, not relevant land, misleading and unclear signage, stopping is not parking etc etc) was ignored.

Appeal was made to POPLA on the same grounds that APCOA had ignored. As usual a few days before APCOA's evidence submission period was due to expire POPLA email to say

"APCOA Parking have told us they do not wish to contest the Appeal. This means your appeal is successful and you do not need to pay the parking charge."

NEVER NEVER NEVER pay these tickets - it is an extortion racket - write to your MP and complain about it.

possible one up take forward with a GDPR breach claim jointly against the airport and the parking company ?
Apcoa/the airport should have never accessed your data.

It would certainly get less attention on its own

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"

APCOA .... yet another scammer approved by the BPA

Proves that APCOA were scamming you

So many scammers approved by the BPA that if they got rid of them, the BPA would probably go bust

    Anyways, well done:beer:

One for the Daily Mail I think. Does anyone have the contact email.

    Also, complain to your MP

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed in the house as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week, hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P.
    for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
