Hi everyone I unexpectedly received 3 cheques for unfair charges, 2 from Lloyds for a loan and a credit card and one from Black Horse for another loan, The Black Horse one is in my Maiden name as its from a very old loan, will my bank (HSBC) accept the cheque or will I have to get Black Horse to issue a new one?

Can you explain how you got unfair charges back? You would be only one of a handful of people that have since 2009. Did the banks even refer to them as unfair or is that just you?
You may be helping others with your reply as refunds using the "unfair charges" route are virtually unheard of nowadays.
Your bank will normally accept a cheque in your maiden name when you also have your marriage certificate.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Think they got their terminology mixed up, seeing as they're referring to loans...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

You are almost certainly referring to undisclosed commission as opposed to charges... either way you would have to ask black horse to re-issue in your married name (they will likely want to see proof of name change first).
Hope this helps.0 -
The letter that came the day before the cheque said we may have treated you unfairly and then they sent me cheque for £260.
They sent 3 letters and 3 cheques one for £394 (for Lloyds a loan) and one for £86 (for a Lloyds credit card) as well but in my married name.
The loans and CC had all defaulted in 2012 and it was for the charges applied in the 10 month default period 2012 to 2013 when I made full and final settlements I hope this makes it clearer.
I did not apply for any kind of refund it was a total surprise.ISA £1675MiniMoohound savings £3685.86 :T Plus £3800 CTF
