Santander Credit Card £3 monthly fee

Options
We currently have the Santander credit card but pay a monthly fee of £3. On average we earn around £4.50 in casback per month so are about £1.50 per month in profit. However, can anybody suggest some alternative credit cards with no monthly fee that also pays casback please?

    Hi,

Amex's "Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card" comes to mind. It has an introductory bonus but you might want to check how the earnings rates compare.

I suppose I'm being lazy really, I just thought many experienced posters on the credit card forum could have come up with some alternatives to the £3 monthly fee with cash back, but I now know I have to do my own research. Sorry I should have done this in the first place.

Generally speaking, Amex will offer the best cashback rates 99% of the time.

The Tandem card looks good as there is no limit on the cashback at 0.5% and also it will be accepted in more places than Amex.

The NatWest Reward credit card does have an annual fee of £24 but pays cashback of 1% on all supermarket spend and 0.5% everywhere else.

If you also have a NatWest Reward bank account the £24 credit card fee is refunded but the bank account has a fee of £2 per month. The bank account gives 2% cashback on 7 types of household bills if made by direct debit. These are council tax, water, gas, electricity, mobile, landline TV package and broadband.

It may not suit your circumstances but I earn £15 every month which is £13 per month profit after paying the £2 bank fee.

There is also a £125 switching incentive for the NatWest Reward bank account.

    Why not have both?

I have an Amex for my main spending and a backup cashback Visa for places where Amex is not taken!

How much a month do you spend to get the £4.50 (or £1.50 after deduction)?

Multiply that by 0.5% and see if it is greater than £1.50

If so then go for the Tandem credit card or any card that gives you 0.5% back (eg John Lewis, although that pay the cashback in JL vouchers)

If you like Amex, then 1% is the usual cashback
