  • Banks do not advertise the basic bank accounts. They are offered to you if they deem you are too much of a risk for a normal account. Overdrafts are not optional. They are no minimum pay in requirements.

What you are referring to is not an official 'Basic' account with HSBC. You are looking at HSBCs everyday current account, which is simply called 'Bank Account'. The HSBC 'Bank Account' is eligible for a £75 switch incentive.

This is a discussion about language...The HSBC 'Basic Bank Account' is a totally different product...And does not receive a £75 switch incentive... :)
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

    I love my job

  • As an aside to the £75 Switching offer (which I received earlier this month), I found out from HSBC CS that if you are over 64 years of age, there are no requirements to keep up the minimum £500pm pay in or to keep the 2 DDs/SOs. I think this only applies to the BANK ACCOUNT not the ADVANCED ACCOUNT, so do check if you are over 64 and think this is something you would like to take advantage of.

I now just pay in £250pm to feed the RS and no DDs/SOs.
  • Yeap.
    1. Basic Bank Account: no £75
    2. Bank Account: £75
    3. Advance Bank Account: £200

Since my credit score is low, i aim for Bank Account, £75
