issues with virgin contract

so i cancelled my vip package last month giving my 30 days notice and then i get a bill the other day for the ongoing month, i call them and turns out the person i spoke to didnt put the 30 days notice in, they corrected it no probs.
going forwards a few days later virgin retentions rings me offering me the same deal and i told him i needed it cheaper or im not interested, he said he'd email the offer over anyway and i didnt have to agree to it.
a few hours later i get an email saying im in a new contract and all the welcome stuff, i cant believe it the guys put me in a new contract, i phone up again fuming and the guy in the billing department sees i have agreed to a new deal so i told him to cancel it as i didnt agree to anything, he couldnt put me through to customer service as they was shut and have to wait until monday now but what a mess.
is this some trick they try to do as they say they record the conversation and at no point did i say yes!

Virgin Customer Service used to be 24/7. I suspect you were lied to.

thankfully you have 14 days to cancel.

I does seam to be their latest trick! If you are "unsure" they sign you up anyway and see what happens! hoping you are too lazy or too dis-organised to cancel within 14 days.
    They are getting desperate!

No cooling-off period on an upgrade surely? But this comes under mis-selling, anyway.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • thanks guys, ok so basically as above its a trick virgin are putting people in, they say would you like me to email you the offer which you agree to it but in order to do that somehow they put you into the contract even though youve not agreed to it!
i phoned sunday and blasted them and they cancelled it, monday night they rang me trying to sell me exactly the same vip package i currently have for another 12 months at £90 a month plus £50 off my first bill.
no good really i want it lower, i told him this but he was persistant and tried to offer me the package without the movies and offered to email the offer for which i said no way as he said i'd have to phone to cancel again lol
he asked if there was anything else he could do and i said no if he cant drop the current package price and he hung up immediately!
so be careful if you agree to them emailing you an offer as they must put you into it without your agreeing to it.
