Where sentiment in the country is heading though (or has already arrived) is that anyone who puts in a 40 hour week should be able to buy a property, or rent a decent property at a decent price, hence the reason that Corbyn is heading for number 10, and the Tories are tinkering around with minimum wage and tax allowances.
And goodbye economy if/when that happens...0 -
It's a battle on many fronts. One of those fronts is actively discouraging the parasitic buy to let brigade wherever the opportunity arises.
I would love to know why you think landlords are parasitic? What is behind this thinking? You can't have tenants paying off landlord's mortgage with public money because a lot of landlords don't have mortgages.0 -
I think the difficult is that there is at present no way to tell if someone claiming housing benefit is someone down on their luck or someone who has been evicted from social housing for anti social behaviour in a different town.
Or is just in a low paid job so has to have top up benefit but is a brilliant tenant. By that I mean pays the rent on time, looks after the place and doesn't cause any problems.0 -
